Nutrients: core to who we are

Your body doesn’t make essential nutrients but it needs them to function properly – they work together to perform hundreds of key roles that are necessary for healthy bodily function and growth. You must get them from food or supplements. Your body does make sufficient nonessential nutrients but you also can get them from food. Sometimes, nonessential nutrients become conditionally essential due to certain life circumstances, like during pregnancy or lactation.

“Supplementation should be tailored to an individual’s nutritional needs while considering their overall dietary intake, health, and physical activity. Dietary supplements can also be recommended for targeted benefits such as supporting bones or immune health.”
