Amway Atmosphere Sky™ and Atmosphere Mini™ earn SleepScore Labs Validation Seal for supporting better sleep

ADA, Mich., April 1, 2025 – Amway, the world’s largest direct selling company, recently partnered with SleepScore Labs to test the impact of Atmosphere™ Air Treatment Systems on sleep quality. The study earned Atmosphere Sky™ and Atmosphere Mini™ devices high marks from SleepScore Labs, including its Validation Seal.

“Good sleep is a big part of overall health and wellbeing,” says Amway Chief Research and Development Officer Kristi Pelc. “The SleepScore Labs Validation Seal is a marker of trust that Amway air treatment systems not only enhance air quality, but may also improve certain aspects of sleep quality. By strengthening our scientific understanding of sleep health, the study informs innovation in our home products pipeline.”

SleepScore Labs, a global leader in sleep science, conducted an 8-week study for both Atmosphere Sky™ and Atmosphere Mini™, with around 30 participants per study, ages 18-75. Participants for both devices demonstrated small yet statistically significant increases in deep sleep per night, with an average of 5.5 minutes for the Atmosphere Sky™ device and an average of 3 minutes for the Atmosphere Mini™ device.[1] Participants for both devices reported perceived increases in air and overall sleep quality, with fewer nights per week spent tossing and turning. They also reported feeling more well-rested and satisfied with overall sleep on more days per week.

“Sleep is connected to nearly every aspect of health,” said Holly Rus, Ph.D., SleepScore Labs. “Using validated, data-driven technology grounded in gold-standard sleep science, our research shows that air purifiers can significantly improve sleep — and the importance of good sleep cannot be overstated. At SleepScore Labs, we aim to measure how such non-invasive products perform in real-world environments, and the results are compelling.”

The SleepScore Max non-contact, in-home monitor captures standard sleep metrics and three sleep quality scales: SleepScore, defined by parameters including sleep time, onset latency, and stage durations; MindScore, related to mentally restorative sleep; and BodyScore, related to deep sleep.

Deep sleep, or slow wave sleep, is particularly critical. During this stage, the body is actively building and repairing muscles, bones, and tissue.

“Most adults spend just 20% of sleep time in deep sleep,” notes Pelc. “Research shows that every minute counts, and this study demonstrates how Atmosphere Sky™ and Atmosphere Mini™ may help impact deep sleep.”
